Il n'est pas de constructeur en France qui puisse offrir des chaloupes cannonieres a vapeur pouvant etre vendu en cours d'execution, ces navires ne se construisent qu'apres commande des gouvernements. En ce moment les seuls navires de guerre auxelles je travaille, sont quatre batteries-flottantes cuirassees, pour le gouvernement francais, et une frigate pour le gouvernement italien.
J'acheve egalement pour l'Italie trois petites chaloupes a vapeur en acier fondu, mais ce sont de tres petits bateaux, destines a un simple service dans des rades, ou sur un grand batiment.
J'ai donc le regret de ne pouvoir satisfaire a votre demande; j'ajoute seulement que des chaloupes cannonieres quelle que fois leur force seraient tres promptement executees dans mes chantiers.

There is not a constructor in France who can offer steam gun-boats able to be sold completely fitted out. These ships are only sold by command of governments. At the present moment, the only men-of-war that I am working on, are four iron-clad flotting-batteries for the french government and a frigate for the Italian government. I am also finishing three little melted steel gun-boats for Italy, but they are very small boats, made for a simple service in bays or on a (?) large vessel.
I regret then, not to be able to satisfy your demand, I only add that gun-boats what ever be there strength will be very promptly executed in my docks.
