Tuesday afternoon.
My beloved Husband,
I wrote to you on last Tuesday from Ms. Townes'.
I presume you have gotten the letter, but in case it should have miscarried, I will again state that I received a few days before a letter from Montagne[?] enclosing a power of Attorney for you to sign [allowing?] him to collect for you all negro [hires?] from the Confederate States Government. In his letter he said it was [?] that you should acknowledge your signature [infra?] a Confederate Officer, and he also [suggested?] that the matter should be immediately attended to as he [is going? today?] [will shortly? illegible].
