To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come---Greeting :
KNOW YE, That our Governor, in pursuance of authority vested in the Executive by law, hath constituted and appointed Col Benjamin S Well, Col Randolph Harrison & Capt R A Wise Examiners, under the 17th section of "an act to provide for the reorganization of the Militia" (approved March 29 1871) for the City of Williamsburg and the county of James City to execute the duties of that office according to law, until further orders
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, These our Letters are sealed with the Less. Seal of the Commonwealth and made patent.
Witness, Gilbert C. Wacker - Esquire, our said Governor, at Richmond, this Twenty-Fourth day of July - in the year 1871, and in the 96th year of the Commonwealth.
