Waterloo Dec. 10th 1864

Dear Cousin Henry. You must excuse me for waiting so long before I answered your little letter, but I do not like to write to the boys while my Papa is in the army without his consent as it takes a letter a long

time to go to Petersburg & back. I could not write sooner. Papa says I must not be frisky and get married before the war is over. Uncle James' little squirrels are the prittiest little things you ever saw. You must come to see uncle James & go have with him.
