SEPTEMBER 13
More beaverlike work at the office
but I’m still so very interested in the
whole thing that I like it good.
This was Wainwright Day and
during lunch hour we stood on Fifth
Avenue and waited for the General to
drive by – with Mayor La Guardia. He’s
an inspiring looking man, and I was
pleased to see that he didn’t look
as haggard and not quite so thin as
he appeared in the photos. 39 months
in a Jap prison camp after the
fall of Corregidor – a long time!
I went to the hospital and then
on to Dr. Duncan’s for another
injection!
A letter from Bill seemed to
show there’d be a delay in his coming
home – but it can’t be too long.
