AUGUST 6
It poured all day, but I
braved the weather to meet Cary
and Jan Staebner (here from
Washington on her vacation) for
lunch in Sammy’s, a high class
Jewish delicatessen; and then
Jan and I walked along Park
and Fifth Avenues, in and out
a few stores, before going to the
Paramount to see Betty Hutton
in “Incendiary Blonde,” the life
story of Texas Guinan. I
usually don’t go for the Hutton
gal’s gymnastics, but she was
excellent in this! Phil Spitalny
and the Hour of Charm All Girl
Orchestra, in person, was quite
good.
Back to the hospital and on home.
Mother got a Birthday Post Card
from Bill – I feel neglected.
