We slept late until I managed
to feel halfway awake. After brunch,
Beth and I picked up John Cooley,
an old friend of hers now an Air
Corps lieutenant on furlough, and
drove to Rye Beach for a wonder-
ful time, acting like 3-year
olds. We swam around, ducking
each other constantly, building
a sand castle, and throwing a
bean bag around in gay style.
Worn out, we went back to White
Plains, showered, had – delicious
dinner and put me on the train
for home; arriving here just
before eleven.
Such a nice change!
