June 6
It’s the Real Thing at last:
D-Day, as allied troops
invaded France with 11,000
planes, 4000 ships and a
countless number of men –
the most stupendous thing
in History! Oh God.
I wonder where It will
end!
I went into the city
again today. Glory took
me to lunch at Schrafft's
and then I hibernated in
the Library to do work
for Haines. It wasn’t as bad as I’d expected.
I met Dad to go to the
Newsreel Theater and then
met Mother for dinner
at twin Oak on Lexington Ave.
