June 14th [?]

My Darling Wife;

Every thing has been going on very nicely since I wrote you last. We have had some quiet since our battle. The men are very indignant at having so little fuss made over the. I forgot to tell you that I was informed by Gaston [?] that [?] had mentioned me in his despatches. Dont laugh, but I would not be surprised from his manner to me during the battle if he had. We have not had a report of a fight at Manassas [?] Junction and that the enemy were whipped with heavy loss. If this is so, I hope we will be sent there, then I can see you for half an hour. I am messing with the Major & Wilson & [?] my 1st Sergt. My relations with the officers and particularly with the men are very pleasant I am as thankful for this as for any other blessing I have received since I left.

Why haven't you sent me the $50 in $1 notes that I wrote for some time ago, also my pants and coats. Much obliged for [?]. Tell Mr. Jones I am much obliged to her for the letter which you said she was going to write also for the box she was going to send, the same message to [Danny?] Walker and others about boxes. They were all very nice, and should be thankful to receive more - Dont fill up yours with bread - the Commissary allows us flour - Send them oft, and send them long.

Good bye dearest. If God continues his blessings on our case we may soon hope for peace and then we can be together again. [Soon?] to Aunt Al. Ask Mr. H. not to let you starve.

Yr devotedly
