Thursday 25th
Wind SW. Clear fine day. Harrowing Two harrows
Throwing back ditch banks. Put down Gate Posts and
swing gate in yard leading to barn.

Friday 26th
Wind W. Clear. Harrowing Two Harrows. cleaning out
drains with hoes. Repairing water fence.

Saturday 27
Wind SW. Clear. Began to plant Corn.
at last. I went to C.H Virginia has joined the “Conf=
=ederate States of the South” by articles of agrement
signed by the Committee of five of the Convention &
vice President Stephens. Large numbers of
Northern troops are being landed at Annapolis
and passing from thence to Washington.

Sunday 28
Wind S Cloudy. We staid at home. sister Harriet
here in m.g. Hally went home. Mary Booth stayed.

Monday 29
Wind W clear. Planting Corn. I intended to
got to Gloster Point To,day and carry some hands to
assist in Throwing up a Fort which a State Eng=
=ineer is erecting there, but I was too sick
to go. Warner got home this Ev.g.

Tuesday 30
Wind W Clear till 3 o,clk then a storm. Planting Corn. I was
very ill last night. Dr Page here this mg.
