Monday 20 Wind SW M.g. N Ev.g. Cloudy and rainy Holidays. Warner returned home in Ev.g.

Tuesday 21 Wind NE & E Cloudy in mg. Clear in Ev.g Cold. Holidays. I went to [Jno?] Rowe’s in Ev.g. got a Todays Richmond paper there. The firing heard Sunday Ev.g was three the between ^ US Steamers ^ Monticello & two smaller Steamers [who][crossed out] who attempted to destroy an unfinished Earth Work they are

             to dismount

erecting at Seawells point, & ^ some Guns they got in Battery the night before. The Steamers were repulsed it is said with a good deal of damage. Nobody hurt on our side.

Wednesday 22 Wind E Clear & beautiful day. Replanting Corn with all hands It is very much missing. Mr Bryan her in m.g.

Thursday 23 Wind E. Clear. Replanting Corn. I went to Guinea & voted & went from there to Gloster Town. Report says there were six men killed & a good many wounded on the Monticello last Sunday, & the Steamer very much injured.

Friday 24 Wind SE mg SE Ev.g. Clear. Taking 2nd furrow from Corn with Two Ploughs. Weeding Corn with hoes

Saturday 25 Wind W Clear Taking 2nd furrow with 3 Ploughs. Weeding Corn. Began to catch ‘Sheeps head” very abundantly
