September 1861

Wednesday 25 Wind E Clear. Hauling in & packing away fodder. Our little Baby quite unwell.

Thursday 26 Wind SE Clear. Hauling in & Stacking Fodder. Mr Canny of Loua a Batln who has been sick here for the past six weeks went to York To,day to join his Batalion.

Friday 27 wind SE & W & Blew a Huricane. Rained off & on all day. Hands cut some cord Wood for soldiers Ben West a Guinea Boy and Edward a negro got upset about the middle of the river in the height of the storm and were saved with great difficulty and danger by John Robins and Mr Hogg.

Saturday [30][overwritten]28th &NE Wind SW Clear. Cutting Cord Wood for the Guard Mr Hogg got me a sack of G A Salt from Mathews for $4.50 Got some wood for the house. Mrs Davis & Miss C Todd here in Ev.g.

Sunday 29 Wind W Clear. Maria went to church I staid at home with Richd & Charley who are not well

Monday 30 Wind SE Clear. Hauling in & Stacking Fodder Finished Blades & began the Tops. I lost a very fine Ox with Murrien. Tow of Mr Curtis’s negroes have run away.
