I have sixty four shocks of wheat which will
probably yield 200 to 250 Bushels. I learn the
Yankees are sending the negroes who have gone to them
away from York Town. Tis said that many refuse to
go but they are summerily knocked down & hand cuffed
and forcibly put on the steamers. I cant hear where they
are carrying them to. Poor deluded creatures they have
left their best friends to be treated worse than dogs by
by a mean cruel sordid race who would glady see them
all die for they dont know what to do with them now
that they have them, and Their only motive in taking them
was to deprive the “Rebels” of their property and as they
think of one of the means of resisting them in this cruel
savage and revengeful and unjust war they are waging
against us.
