Mr Sheldon returned from Shelly to.day. Charley better.
Friday 26
Wind N Clear & cool. Finished Pulling Fodder &
began to haul it is and Stack it. Sent James &
Alick to Mr Bryan’s to assist in threshing his wheat
James Thomas got the Flour from 15 Bus Wheat I sold
and had ground for him. A also sent by him 155 Lbs
Flour to Back River to be exchanged for Salt and Tea.

Hauling in Packing away in stable loft & Stacking Fodder
I went to Ct house (Mail day) It seems it was a mistake
about the Friday’s battle. no fight of any consequence occuring then,
but tis reported that Jackson who was still on the Northern Bank
of the Potomac nearly opposite near Shepherdstown Va was attacked
by a Yankee force of Ten Thousand men under a Genl Pleasanton
on Saturday from the Va shore. He concealed his force till
nearly all had crossed when he attacked them and in a short time
Killed wounded Captured and drowned in the Potomac the whole force
except about 2000 who escaped, with very small loss to us.
I hoped to hear something further from Fielding Taylor, but heard nothing.
