Friday 18th

Wind NE Cloudy & cool. Rained a little at intervals.
Ploughing Three ploughs. Working Corn with hoes.

Saturday 19

Wind E Cloudy. Wm throwing first & Nick & James second
furrows to Corn. Hilling Corn with hoes.
Heard that Genl Hindman had captured Genl Curtis and
fine Thousand of his Troops in Arkansas. Mr Bryan here in M.g.
he got home from Richmond Thursday

Sunday 20

Wind SW & S Cloudy. We staid at home.

Monday 21

Wind W mg SE Evg Clear. Nick & James throwing 2nd
& Wm first furrows to Corn. Hilling 16 acre lot with hoes
I went to C.H. Dr Miller came from Richmond sick.
Nothing doing in the armies near Richmond. We have had
some successes in Tennessee, Kentuckey & at Vicksburg.
We captured Murfesboro Tenn, & took a number of Prisoners among
them Genl Crittenden Two Cols &c. &a large quantity of stores arms
clothing &c &c. Our troops are marching on Nashville tis said with
a good prospect of capturing it, as there are few Federal troops there.

Tuesday 22

Wind E & NE Cloudy. Finished throwing 1st furrows to Corn
Throwing second furrows with three ploughs. Hilling Corn.
We rode to Mr Selden’s in Ev.g. Mr & Mrs Selden in
Richmond with Bob who is ill.
