Wednesday 6th
Wind W Rained in mg Clear Mdn Thunder Cloud
and hail & Rain in Ev.g. Got Wood. Raked & hauled
Pine litters. Made up fences blown down & some washed
away by tide. I went to C.H. Election day for President
& Vice President & member of Congress. Davis & Stephens got all
the votes Polled there which were very few and Garnete all
(except one given to Critcher) for Congress. Some of the Yankee
fleet are known to be lost on the North Carolina Coast & it
is supposed a great many others shared the same fate.

Thursday 7
Wind NW Clear & cold. Began to sow Wheat again Mr. Curtis
sent down George & John with four Mules & two Ploughs to help
me. Frank Cooke came down To.day.

Friday 8
Wind SW Clear. Sowing Wheat. Hooke went home.

Saturday 9
Wind W in mg. Clear & NE in Evg and a Thunder cloud about dark
and a good deal of rain. Finished Sowing & putting
in Wheat opening drains & every thing. I went to Gloster
Point, & got home just as the rain bagun.

Sunday 10
Wind E Clear. We went to Church. The Yankees
have landed at Beaufort South Carolina after driving
us from our Batteries there. A sad thing.
