Wednesday 14th
continued
There is a great deal of sickness among the Troops
at York Town. the 5th North Carolina Regt has been moved to
Hobday’s Farm on the Gloster shore, and some several
hundred are in private houses in Gloucester from the
1st North carolina & a Louisianna Regt & they are being
brought over every day. I expect to get two this Evening.
Mr Seet the wounded man from Louisianna who has been with me
more than a month is getting well very fast.
Tis said the desease at York town is caused by the
daming up of a Creek, back of it (for defence) & there
are a great number of Measel patients.

Thursday 15
Wind NE Cloudy. Hauled out and scattered
Sea Ore. Cleaning out ditches. Landon Davies
getting in a fresh squod of Militia with
some dificulty. Warner went to Richmond
To.day I brought home with me four
sick Lauisianna soldiers, fomr Mrs Robin’s today
Messr Kareny, Houck, Heslin, & Galpin. They
seem to be improving tho debilitated.
