                                   Camp Berryville
                                           Nov 25 1862

Dear [Mag?],

               as Lieut Anderson has leave

of absence for ten days & I have an opportunity to write I will say a word to you any way. but I am so cold I can't write sitting down on the ground. we just got off of Pickett last night & are expecting to fall back every moment exciting times here this morning it is just light and as cold as the D.L. ha Charley is well & in fine spirits. my health is first rate & all is well. I received my Commision as Capt last night. I have now a good Company & I hope it will stay so. I send you 16 yds of Calico to make me some shirts. I give 53 cts per yard for it. I have no time to write. my love to all the family. Good bye
