Washington, D.C. Va. Mr William Winson Esq Sir. I take my Pen in my hand for to inform you that I am in the Land of Dixey. We landed in Washington, D.C. We got to Washington Saturday 27 about 1 O Clock in the Morning got Breakfast then we Started for Camp Chase and we stade thare untill Sunday the 2 day of Nov there we Started for fairfax [?] But o God if you Cold se this Part of the land

Every thing is laide wast here the land here Whare thare was a foriest Now thare is Stumps from 3 to 5 feet high if you cold com and se it you wold Not Be Sorry for it, I will Say to you this When I git my Pay that is A Check for to Draw the money on I Shal Send it to you thay say that are Good on Eney bank in the State. I want you to Draw the Money on this and take out your Pay and giv the rest to George A. Conell and you will oblige me vary much. We landid here at 3 o Clock in the after Noon Pitch our tents and at Sundown we got orders for a march Next day at 8 o Clock after you git throug with this Bisness you can rite to me [?] Want you to, I have sene
