    Camp in Fort Wadsworth Va
                 December 6th 1864

Dear Sister

               I take the present

Oppertunity to write a few lines to let you know that I am well at present time hoping that these few lines will find you injoying the same blessing. I received your kind and welcom letter last night and I was very glad to here from you once more and I also received your likeness and I was glad to see it but I would be glader if you would sent me your Photograph and I want you to sent me it this winter some time and I will sent you some money to get it taken after while, and I let you know that we are in front of Petersburg again and you want to know what I think of the war by this time and I let you know that I dunt think much of it just now, but I still hope that this cruel war will be over till next spring so that we all can go home again. And now Amanda if you are going home this winter I will sent on money and I want you to make me few quilds and very nise once too, and meppy I come home this winter some times. I dunt know yet and I let you know that I am gone to write to Matilda and Louisa to make me a quild too and then if I ever come home I will see which one of youns got the nicest quild, and you want to know who all is coming home on a furlough this winter but I cant tell you that for I dunt know yet whether I can get one or not and I want you to let me know when you are going home and you stated in your letter that the Snyder County girls are most all going home this winter and I wish I could go home too and stay at home all winter but I think I cant come for a while yet, and I think I must come to a close for this time and I want you to answer this letter sooner than you did the other one and you stated in your letter that you would go to school this winter and larn to write but I dunt want to wait for and answer till you can write and let me know who write your letters for you and dunt for get and answer this letter as soon as this comes to hand.
