                  Dear Father
     This beautiful morning finds

me on picket duty near Berryville. Since I last written to you we have joind our command again wich is lying near at Berryville. We are once more in the position of where we always was in the front waiting the coming of the Rebel General Earlys command and we are ready to give them a warm reception on there coming and I herd that so many was enlisting again and I am glat to hear that men are entering the service of our noble country to defent it and I hope they will all do their duty. And we are bound to put down the Rebels and restore the union and further I want you to get me [sest?] and Pay my state tax it is only twelf cents and then sent me a certifficate for we must have somsing to show that our taxs is Paid before we can vote and do it as quick as posable and I want you to sent me my discharge that I left at home las winter. The goverment owing us some rasion money and we must have them befor we cane get it and sent it as soon as this comes to hand
