Dear Billy Brunswick County Va Augt 24th 1861

I have again seated myself to answer your letter of th 14 inst which come through the hands of Mr Clary and was very glad to here that you had got well of measles this letter leaves us all well Except Boy is complaining of his throat being somewhat sore and hoping this letter may find you enjoying Good health I have nothing of importance to write you we have the findes crops of corn in this part of Country I ever saw I think there will be corn enough made Brunswick in this year to last too year the Tobacco crop is not so good owing to have been too much rain

The war feaver have somewhat died away in Brunswick there is no recruting officers for Volunteers our boys seams to be determine to wait the call of the Militia so that some of the [sweell?] heads may go with them the nieghbours are all well so fair as I know tell Mr [..no?] Wright that I was at his house afew days ago & his Family was all well & his corn looks very well tell [?] King & Brothers that there sister Mary is very sick Tell Charles I saw a letter from him the other day & see

Tell Alfred old Mr [?] is dead and he had better make hast & come back before Miss Mary gets married I have understood that your company will come back to Staunton before the weather gets very cold and if you do I expect to come up to see you all – Mr J [Ruffens?]

son and have been talking of coming when we asertain that we can get to where you all are your Ma wants you to write her [ward?] if you want any Clothes Socks or any thing & she will have them Made & sent to you if you get any where in reach of us – you wrote that paper was very scanty with you –
