Va Washington County to wit To Jeremiah B Mongle, Mongle Dickinson, Thomas W. Thomas, Samuel P. Cunigham & Henry A. Hughes, J A Mongle A Justice of the said County do in the [?} of the Commonwealth, do command you the said J B Mongle Mongle Dickinson, Thos W Thomas, Saml P Cunningham & H A Hughes to patrol until the first day of this next County Court, of said County & visit within the bounds of the 4th district said County at [?] [?] All negro quarters, & other places suspected of having unlawful assembly, or such slaves as may from Plantations to assemble & to take any persons found in an unlawful Assembly or any slaves found sheltering before some Justice near the place of capture to be dealt with according to Law & I appoint you the said [J B Mongle?] to be Captain of the said Patrol Given under my hand this 10th day of August 1861
