My dear Lem,

        With tears of

grateful feeling, I acknowlege your appreciation, of the rare & surpassing excellence, of my Darling Brother; of all those noble qualities, adorning his blameless & philanthropic life & his varied, & elegant, literary & scientific attainments, which he ever devoted, to the good of others. Yes he trusted to his Saviour for salvation & even followed in His footsteps, doing good to all.

         Accept my warmest

wishes, for your happiness & that, of those you love, your Sister & Brother. May life be to you,

all a long & bright career of usefulness, serenity & honour; & may that deep & Perfect "Peace, which passeth all understanding," be to each one of you, a possession now, & forever.

         With sentiments of

kindest regard, most truly your friend.
