Anne Arundel Co. Md Dec. S 7th 1864

My dear Cousin Sally, My husband and myself together with our little baby reach this side of the Potomac a short time ago and I hasten to write to you thought I think it is doubtful whether or not you will re- ceive this letter as I do not know your address. I write though hoping that it may reach you.

I have been married you know since the 6th of August 1863. My husband is Mr. James D. McCabe, Jr. of Maryland, a son of an Episcopal Clergyman of the same name and Place(?) and a nephew of our pleasant friend Dr. John McCabe. I wish very much you could know him. I think that you and he would like each other. My little baby was born on the 2nd of June, 1864, and is now seven months old. She is named Mary after me. She is a very fine healthy child, and I think very pretty. I am perfectly happy in my married life. We are devoted to each other and to our child.

I left all of my relations well. They all send much love to you.

How is Uncle John? Does he show any signs of recovery?

All of our friends that Jr. heard from are well. Sally Lambert is not married yet, though I believe she expects to be., her fiance is Mr. Charles McEvoy. You know of poor Alex's death? It was very sad.

I am now on a visit to my husband's relations, I don't know yet where we will settle down.

Write soon and when I know that you have received this letter I will write again, more at length.

Goodby your affectionate Cousin Mary Copeland McCabe

Address is Mrs. J.D.McCabe Jr. Care of Rev. J.D. McCabe Tracy's Landing Anne Arundel Co. Md.
