Dec. 26, 1967

Dr. Carl A. Fair William and Mary College Williamsburg, Va.

Dear Dr. Fair:

I wish to commend your choral group on the excellence of your presentation on Christmas Eve. It came off very well and revealed some high quality training and teamwork. I thought the pickup and lighting were equally well done.

I will be interested to know if your group has tapes of music available covering other past performances. we have many calls from the ill for quality choral works and can also use numbers which have historical value. At the present time we are editing an entire series of classical music for use of the blind. We have started a collection of symphony orchestra productions which will include the works of many fine orchestras throughout America, such as Pittsburgh, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Hartford, etc., enough to show that our country today can match some of the best music coming to us from all parts of Europe. The same is true of choirs and choruses we get from Univ. of New Mexico, Univ. of Indiana, Northwestern, Univ. of Michigan, Princeton, etc.

I am enclosing some of our literature. You will note that we make distribution without charge to any hospital, group or individual making use of our tapes for the benefit of the ill. At present we have over 7,000 tapes on loan in twenty-four countries on four continents. One mental hospital with 5,000 patients is in your own state of Virginia. Following a conference held this past summer at our summer studio we were asked to do a pilot study with a large prison hospital on a program of rehabilitation for the criminally insane, so you can see we have quite a varied audience. The latter group has come up with some very intelligent requests, and we feel we are helping them to gain a better outlook on life.

I shall be in the Pittsburgh area until Jan. 8th, when I go to Phoenix and the West Coast to further our work out there. My California address will be 930 Crestwood Drive, Santa Barbara, Cal. It will be a pleasure to hear from you.

Sincerely, Ralph L. Hoy (signature), Ralph L. Hoy
