Thursday Night Camp Gregg, Va. Feby 19th/63

My own dear Sister,

Your very kind and most welcome letter came to hand this evening and I was, as you know I am always, glad to hear from home, and especially to hear that you all are getting on so well. I was sorry to hear that Sis Macon was unwell, but hope she may soon be entirely well again.

This leaves me enjoying as good health as I ever did in my life & I trust it may find you all enjoying the same blessing. The Drum has "beat" for Prayer meeting, so I will quit until afterwards.

Well Prayer meeting is over I will proceed to finish my letter. I have nothing of interest to write, we all are getting on very well, get plenty to eat such as it is. "Beef & Bread". How is Charlie getting on? I hope he will soon be able to walk again. You asked me to write you what size Box or Bag, I thought he could bring, he would bring any size if he could, I reckon you had better put the things in a small bag or an old Carpet sack, as he will have to carry it in his hands, you may crowd in a Little "Sausage Meat & Butter", buy some of the butter from some of the Neighbors & I will pay you for the same, now don't put yourself to much trouble about it, just any little thing that you have on hand will do, for we can do very well with what we get here. I am very sorry to tell you that Lt Col Ruffin is going to leave us, he has been promoted to some position on Genl Kirby Smith's Staff, he is one of the best Officers I ever knew. We are all very sorry indeed that he is going to leave. We had snow yesterday about five inches deep, it commenced to rain yesterday morning & it is all nearly gone now. My Regards to Cousin Bettie & Mr. Huggins. Remember me kindly to all the Neighbors & tell Mrs. Mary Stone I hope her Dream will come to pass before very long. May Heaven take care of you all dear Sisters is the Prayer of your

Affect Brother
