Army near Richmond Va May 20th 1862

My Dear Sister

I write you a few lines this morning to let you know where & how I am getting on. We are stationed about 5 miles from Richmond. I am very well at present & I trust this may find you all enjoying the same blessing. We at a very pretty place now have been here 3 or four days, don’t know how long we will stay though we have had a very hard time but have stood it very well indeed, the fight at Williamsburg
