Blenheim Feb 28th [1864]

Tuesday evening

Dear Nina,

I received your third

note on Friday but as I had just

written you by that very days mail

I did not write again immediately.

I am delighted to hear you have written

to [Lou?] to get me a straw splitter for I

certainly want it. I sent you $50 by

my last letter and I think from what I

wrote you you will not get my cot-

ton, so can use the 50 dol for that.

I may have to write to you still to

get my cotton for since I wrote Mrs.

Hobson has heard that the county

agent has not been able to get any more

cotton and she may not be able to get

what she expected & if so will not be able

to get me half what she offered. But

next Monday is court day, & I reckon

that Dr. will be able to see then what he

can do so I have concluded to wait until

after that time & then I will write you

what to do if I want you to get it will then

send you the money to get it with, unless

you should write me that you have gotten

it when I will immediately send you

the other $50.00. I am very sorry to hear you are so low

in funds & wish indeed I could help you more

and indeed if you need more I can ask the

Dr. to let me have it without being extravagant.

I know when you are in town you spend much

more than one in the country does. I hope you &

Mrs. [Powell?] will yet come to [?] [?] [?]

Mother says she has written to you to come on to

[Nelson?] immediately if you do not. I am anx-

ious to hear what you did about your engage-

ment with brother John (you see I am getting

my tongue in) and whether you have seen him.

I am much obliged for his letter it is indeed

a noble one, but that does not satisfy me at all

I want another. Ma wrote me that she had

sent you his letter to Pa & Pa's answer to you

would send them on to me, make haste

and send them. I want to see them. Nothing

in the world has happened since I wrote you last.

and I have just written a long letter to [Bettie?]

[Morton?] congratulating her on her brother [?]

and a short one to Uncle Fred & have to write

this by light wood light so can't write a long one.

I had a tooth drawn on Saturday & spent the rest

of the day making envelopes made 58 which you

fix. I got my [?] & cotton safely on Friday & please

tell Minnie I got the paper too. I am much obli-

ged, she won't have gotten it very cheap. Did

Frank get the bundle I sent him. Goodnight

Write soon to you loving

Hattie.
