You will find ac companying this the letter you request to Genl. Magruder. I hope it may open to you all the avenues for the correct history of passing events -

What an absurd do- cument we have in Lincoln's message - and how nauseous and disgusting the proceedings of Congress, es pecially in regard to Upton - Carlisle & c. - but My Dear sir we have to teach ourselves to endure scenes in the future even more absurd and diabo -lical than those in the
