JANUARY 16

1945.   Another day devoted to the boredom

of Corporation Finance, but I

finally managed to catch up on

it all and feel as though I've

accomplished something at last.

I took time out to go to a [.en..r]

class meeting, but otherwise stayed

quite close of the pink and

blue room. So soon yet the hibernation

begins!

A sweet letter from Bill, written

Saturday enclosed a letter from his

Dad written August 11, 1942 after

Bill's first furlough in answer

to an apparently favorable talk

about me --- agreed to come to N.Y.

to meet me. It was really beautifully

written. I wish I could have

gotten to know him better

before he died.
