Making fence. <br />Our Iron clad Steamer Virginia late the Merimac came from <br />The Navy Yard Saturday night to Hampton Roads, and sunk the <br />US Frigate Cumberland, Burnt the US Frigate Congress and<br />*captured the US Steamer Minnessota*. She subsequently had <br />an encounter with US Iron Clad Steamer Erricson which she<br />damaged &amp; drove under the guns of Fortress Monroe. The Virginia <br />is said to be uninjured. She must be a grand success <br />*This is not correct the rest is, The Minnessota was badly hurt but not taken</p>
