DECEMBER 27
A pleasant break came in the
satisfactory work day when Elaine
called to say she had the day off
(belated shopping day) and had come
into town. We had lunch at the
Champlain; and agreed to meet
again this eve. – At 5:15 I met her
and Joanie at the Roxy to see
Gene Tierney and Cornel Wilde
in “Leave Her to Heaven.” It was
stirring and excellent. We enjoyed
it immensely. – We had a hasty
hamburger at Yummy’s and then
home.
Several more Christmas cards,
a cute letter from Johnnie and
an awfully nice one from Jim.
(Things are looking up!) Mr. Geisel
sent me a lovely figurine too.
