AUGUST 21

It’s been such a hot and

humid day that I feel completely

beat right about now.  Mother

and I went into the city this

morning to the Capitol to see

Frank Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson, and

Gene Kelly in “Anchors Aweigh,” a

really excellent musical; and

Paul Whiteman and Johnny Johnson

in person.  We had a late lunch

at McGinnis’ and then went

over to the hospital to find

Dad very jiggery and discouraged.

The father of Dorothy Sarnoff

the opera and musical comedy

star, was visiting him!
