Starry was called out on a [blank] this
morning and didn't return until
evening. Sleeted and snowed all day.
Mary + I were over to Ryan's a
few minutes late this afternoon.
Read + knitted this eve.

Monday, Jan. 28, 1918
Very cold again but burning wood
in the furnace keeps us warm.
Served at the Red Cross until 4 P.M.
Am enjoying knitting a sweater
in my spare moments. Mary
takes so much time - she
does not sleep or eat well. She
has [??] double tooth now -
making three.
