1-7. As wound no better I
asked for transfer to Biarritz
where could receive just as good
attention as at Chateauroux &
under much more pleasant
surroundings. As a hospital #9
is a farce, no system whatever.
orders finally fixed up, so
left in company with Lt. Slade
& Capt. Shuddemagen, on Jly. 3
for Biarritz going via Paris,
arriving there about 6 P.M. I
with a good dose of Influenza
but kept going. Stopped at small
hotel in old student quarter
& saw as much of the interesting
part of the city as was open to
the public. Early next A.M.
began our tour & visited many
places. Luxemburg Gardens,
Louve, Kings Palace, Queens
Palace. Army Museum Opera
Drove up Champs Elysee,Eifel
Tower, bridges over Seine.
Place des Invalides, +c To see
a musical comedy night of 3"

flags flying everywhere & a
parade of about 5000 Amer.
troops with other Allies. Magnif-
icent spectacle.
Left the night of 4th arriving
Bordeaux next A.M. where we
spent 8 hrs. seeing the city.
