morning at Fort Magruder until 3 o'clock. I don't
suppose that I stayed there more than three quarters
of an hour, and the most of that time was consumed
in attending to business.

I don't know whether or not you intended con-
sulting me about the disposition of your wind fall
but I intend being so [offensive?] as to [enter...?] an
opinion. If you think Sallie need it, or if you wish
it,then give the dear little thing the whole or a part,
consult your own wishes, and I will be perfectly satisfied
I don't think that you will ever find me [?]-
...ed?] to [and?] [?] in every way in my power

[2]

the less feel some little hesitatence in doing so, par-
ticularly, as it may deprive you of a certain
degree of pleasure.  You say that you intend
taking the Col of the Louane Battalion in hand  -
do you think that sound judgement would dictate
such a counsel. You have [?] but that one officer is
not a gentleman, and it may be that the Col is no
better.  I am not jealous.

I must  bring my letter to a close as my paper
has given out.  Please write to me soon and write
all about yourself

Devotedly C.W.C.
