Williamsburg – April 6th 1865

My Dear Elizabeth

All the interesting
matter you wrote concerning genealogies
has been received & appreciated. I had no
idea Lowndes, Jackson has any family notes
remaining. At length to day I have
recd what I have been expecting, & enclose
to your order a check for $100. I [regret?] the
dely but better late than never. Lizzy has
not returned to Prince Edward yet. She seems to
enjoy herself very much with her old friends, &
dislikes the idea of going back, wants
very much to settle hereabouts. I have
been intending to write but have been a
little out o f sorts. You must not
take umbrage as a short
letter as it is getting late. Lizzy is
no there just now [?] would send her love. Trusting
that you are well I remain
Yours affectionately,
Benj S. Ewell
Miss Elizabeth S. Ewell
