Poor Fielding his fate was a sad one. Cut off in the prime
of life with every thing around him to make life desirable.
He was a noble specimen of a Gentleman and a solider.
The hands finished hauling in & stacking Top Fodder
then cut down hauled in & shucked up corn.
Thursday 9
Wind E Clear Cutting down hauling & shucking corn.
I am very unwell with a sore throat & cold.
Friday 10
Wind E Cloudy & Rained a little this morning. Cutting down
hauling & shucking corn. Cousin Harriet & Mr. Sheldon
went to Sister Ann's in Evg to stay. I went to Wilson's Creek.
Two ladies a Mrs. White & Mrs. Waller from York County came
here this m.g. on their way to join their husbands in our Army.
I sent them to Mr. Sinclair's to see Major Sinclair who is there.
Saturday 11
Wind NE Cloudy in mg & began to rain about 11 o,clk
& rained hard the balance of the day. I got wet returning
from Ct House which made my cold much worse.
Cutting down Hauling & shucking corn. Fielding Taylor Jr
& Richard went to Belle Farm after Mrs. Taylor's carriage
They got very wet.
