Monday 4th
broke into my Parlor & store Room but were discovered
by me before they had time to get any thing. They
broke into the Foul houses & stole all the remaining poultry
of every discription about Fifty in Number
(They had taken about 50 last week) Broke open my
Barns, Dairy & Carters Room & stole from the poor
fellow all his clothes four hams of Bacon in fact
every thing he had, amounting to at least $150.
My few remaining negroes say they used every manes except
force to induce them to go off with them.

Tuesday 5.
Wind SE Clear. Joshua ploughing Alick harrowing.
The Yankees went to the Ct house today in large
force. I have not heard what they did there.
Their object evidently is to drive off all the inhab-
-itants from this section of Country by depriving them of food &
subjecting them to every other annoyance
Sent 13  cattle & 20 sheep & 9 Lambs up the county by
Ransome & West. They were taken by the Yankees but
not carried away by them. as I recovered them again.
