Sunday 26th
Wind SE Clear & hot. I and the children went to Church
Maria [& the Baby][crossed out] staid at home. The Baby sick
U S Troops have occupied Alexandria. Ellsworth of the
Zouave Regt of N York killed by Capt Jackson [propretor?]
of “Marshall House” who was also killed by Ellsworths men.

Monday 27
Wind W. and blew a hurricane the whole day.
Ploughing Three Ploughs. Weeding Corn with hoes
I went to Gloucester Point. Returned choked with dust
Our little Baby is I fear very sick. Nothing new.

Tuesday 28
Wind S Clear & very dry. Ploughing four Ploughs.
Weeding Corn with hoes. Our Baby extremely sick
Sent for Dr Page who came about 11 O.clk. also for Sister Harriet
She & Mr Curtis came about 1.O.clk

Wednesday 29
Wind NE Clear & cold. Ploughing Three Ploughs. Weeding
Corn with hoes. Warner returned this Evening, he has been
to Richmond. 2 Alabama & 1 Mississippi company came to Gloster
Point yesterday. Major Potn Page was shot at and very
nearly hit by a Sentinal at Gloster Point (by Mistake)
on Monday night. Our Baby is still very ill
Dr Page here in morning.
