Wind NW & W Clear & beautiful weather
Cutting down, hauling & Ricking Stalks. Hauling
Rails & Repairing fences. Younger & John sawing
I went ot Gloster Point. They seem to be expecting
an attack on York Town & Gloster Point to,morrow
by Water & land with Thirty Thousand Yankee Troops.
I dont know the grounds for that belief & thing it doubtful.
I there heard we had gained a grand victory at Cheat Mountain
in NW Va. E Johson commanding our Troops & Reynolds
the Yankees. I trust it is true & anxiously await its confirmation
I am suffering from Rheumatism again.

Wednesday 18
Wind W Clear mild & beautiful. Ploughing Two Ploughs for Corn
Finished Cutting hauling & Ricking Stalks. Repairing fences
John assisted Mr Hogg to kill some Beeves in Guinea. Mr Hogg is
stationed at Gloster Point in the Militia.

Thursday 19
Wind S & SE Clear mild and beautiful. I have never know
so fine a spell of weather and of so long continuance at any
season. Hauling Rails. Repairing Water fences. cut Poles
to make a Hog Shelter. I went to Miss Tucker Bryans wedding
in Ev.g. She married Dr Carmichael of Fredericksburg.
