Sunday 17
Wind NW Clear. We staid at home.
Selden here in m.g. A Steamer the Fingal has
arrived in Savannah from England with it is said 29 Thousand
Muskets and great many other Things now need by us.

Monday 18
Wind NW Clear. Shucking Corn in field and
housing it. Cutting & hauling logs to build Winter
quarters for the Guard over the Boats on Whitaker’s Creek.

Tuesday 19
Wind NW Clear & cold. Gathering Corn in field
and housing it. Building house for guard
Maria went to Wilsons Creek to see Cousin Harriet
Sheldon, she things she is rather better.

Wednesday 20th
Wind N Clear. Gathering and housing Corn.
Building house for the guards. Killed Three Beeves
to send to Gloster Point Tomorrow. Cousin Harriet worse.

Thursday 21
Wind N Clear. Gathering & housing Corn – about the house
Send the Beef to Gloster Point. I went there also
Saw there Dr Wise there a Rufugee from the Eastern Shore
He says the Yankees came down from Maryland 8000 strong
& have overrun both counties. No resistance could be made
we had only 800 Men under arms and no means of getting
reinforcements, as their Vessels blockaded the Bay.
