Sunday 21st
Wind SW. Clear and beautiful day.
I staid at home. Warner here. Dr Page came
to see Milly who is quite sick.

Monday 22
Wind SW. W N & NE. Rained nearly all day
and a severe storm from NE in evening & at night
Cut & hauled Poles & making fence around barn yard
Cultivated & laid by Corn. Mr Seet quite sick
Dr Page came to see him. Bet very sick with
Bilious fever at Sister Ann’s. Mr Shields very ill

at Mr Bryans. A Jubelant [salute][struck-through] fired at York & Gloster
Point about five O.clock I hope in honor of a victory

Tuesday 23
Wind NE Cloudy. Hauled Poles. Made fence. Grubbed
Bushes. The firing was for [Glorious][underscored]
[Victory][underscored]. We whipt and drove into Washington
75 Thousand Yankees from Manassas with 50 thousand
Southerners. Captured their Artillery &c. The accounts
I have received are imperfect , and no details,
but there is no doubt of our complete success.
([God be praised][underscored]) Tis said President
Jeff Davis commanded our Army in person.
