Richmond, June 25, 2962

Dear Lizzy,

It is expected that General Jackson's Army will be here in a day or so. If ?? they are not now. A battle may therefore be looked ?? immediately. Remain at Dr Smith's until officers ...??? As to your going to North Carolina it is not worth while ? I do not wish you to go further. Retreating ceases to be a virtue after a while. I have had quite enough of it for my taste. General Persons has come from Williamsburg lately. nothing new the citizens are not unreasonably molested. The noble inhabitants enjoy the largest liberty with the exception of the julep doing as your ?? said he would like to in becoming the "President of this United State." I will get from D2 George the letters of your ??. It is quite ?? that the fact of the General's ?? wounded will prove a bar to my ?? the military service.
