JULY 17
A very pleasant day, inspite of
Explosive rumblings on the domestic
scene! It rained hard, but Mom
and I went into the city to buy
towels for Cary’s wedding and birthday
-- and then met her for a quick
birthday lunch at Stouffers.
Back home I dressed -- went to
the hospital -- and then met Florence
and Winnie at the New Yorker before
going down to the Village Barn. We
had a really terrific time: -
delicious food, excellent floor
show and intriguing atmosphere.
We walked around until too
many people tried to pick us
up. Then on home in the pouring
rain – Mother met us and we
swam the car home. They spent
the night – grand gales!
