The girls have all got back to say they have
had a glorious time. The troops would have
extended they say from the top of Fort Hill
to -- I cant remember how far they said
& I shall have to wait till they come
down, for after talking for the last half
hour they have all gone upstairs to re
fresh themselves with a nap.
There is a perfect furor on the subject of
uniforms & a plain coat is nowhere.

the military spirit in Virginia.
Your last letter was unusually interesting to
me. You told me so much more about
yourself than you usually do. You must always
remember that the more you tell me about
yourself, the more interesting your letters will
be, as you & Lloyd are decidedly the
most interesting people in Henry to me!
I am very glad you are [reading?] so judiciously
I have no doubt it is the first plan to
read one twice as you are reading [Homer?]
