JULY 26
We spent the day quietly around
the house before going down to the
hospital to learn that Dad has had
the very critical thrombosis. He’s a
pretty lucky guy to have recovered
with no severe after effects.
I met Cary and Jan in Brooklyn
this evening. We ate in Schrafft’s
and then went to the Metropolitan
to see Van Johnson in “Thrill of a
Romance” and a Sherlock Holmes
thriller. The evening was slightly
strained – but pleasant.
A letter from Midge. – still very
happy!
Churchill was defeated in the
British elections – the Labor Party won
by a landslide.
