<html>Left for Thiacourt after lunch, pass-
ing thru Limey, Regnieville & other
towns in barrage area, all com-
pletely wiped out.  merely a pile
of stone remaining & that all
broken to pieces.  Road thru no mans
land completely destroyed, mined,
shell-fire, worse traffic congestion
I ever expect to see, apparently the
whole A-E. F. trying to get to the front.
Shelling roads continually tho none of
our bunch got hit.  two 4 mule
teams blown up & 4 men killed
about 400 yds. ahead.
Reached Thiacourt about 4 P.M. &
unloaded in Chateaux formerly Hun.
Hdqrs. fine & safe cellar which looked
good.  Shells falling in town
continually & roads being shelled
steadily.  Three men killed & 7 wounded
one blown from hosp. gate just as
we arrived.  The screech of the
whiz-bang is the most menacing one
I've heard yet.  Saw amer. balloon
fired before supper.  Slept in cellar
on a Hun bunk that was too
short & the place full of fleas.
Didn't shell so much at night
Up early & watching shells burst
on road tho couldn't help but
duck each time I heard one.  they
all sound too close for comfort.
Another balloon down this [...ur?]
Division relieved so left after lunch
for Ansauville via Benney, Pannes
roads all torn to pieces & these on
way out, no casualties.
17" Quiet day - camped no planes
over last night very pleasant
camp.
18" Orders came sending me to
F.H. 16 at Minorville, in lots of
mud near large French hospital.
Still very sore & unable to move
about much.  notice no change
in sinus. still daily dressing.
19" Maj [LaVake?] in command 6 ward
tents up. mud everywhere. Assigned to
Ward -4, 40 beds. Weather, rainy &
cold on 20" orders for move came
& up early on 21" first of outfit</html>
