12-19.
Merely another week of idleness
with no definite [da..e] us to leaving
time. The more one see of the army
the less his opinion is of the ad-
ministrative end. Seems a crime
to subject me to such unnecessa-
ry conditions. No winter clothing
yet, barracks all cold & not pro-
tected from rain adequately.
Personally expect to see much
Pneumonia unless conditions
change. Ordnance not in yet
& if our getting equip is a test
of supplying men then one
half [...] will not be outfitted
for many many months.
One month on 18" past sailing
date
19-30.
To date nothing has occurred that
might any thing of importance to
a diary. Ones impressions of Army
life & [...] for it gradually
wane as he learns more of the inner
workings & [...] so when compared
to affairs in [...] life. The system
appears alright but [...]
to its companions abound. Apparently
what's everybody's business is nobody's
business. We are now practically
2 mos. past sailing date due to
unbusiness-like [...] in fur-
nishing supplies. Efforts to [...]
appear pitiful.
